Anyone try this monitor yet? DP 1.4 so would be a good match for a cMP with a newer video card. Won't work with the nMP @5K unless you have an eGPU. A bit cheaper than the LG and appears to have same screen.

https://www.planar.com/products/desktop-touch-screen-monitors/24-inch/ix2790/

FOR PC: DP Support up to 5120 x 2880, HDMI Support up to 3840 x 2160 FOR MAC: DP Support up to 3840 x 2160, HDMI Support up to 3840 x 2160, 5K resolution is only available via the DisplayPort input and requires a graphic card with DisplayPort 1.4 support (MST not supported)

OK - I dove in and bought one.

1st one DOA so sent it back. Would power on and show a raster but no on screen display or respond to any input. Attached cMP did see it and identify it as a IX2790 via both DP and HDMI.

2nd one works but sent it back also* No problem getting 5K with my RX 460. Display really looks good. Speakers work with the Kext hack on both DP and HDMI. I don't understand how Retna works as in System Information it can show UI at 3K, resolution at 6K, and monitor telling me it is getting a 5K signal. Similar to my 4K monitor showing resolution at 8K. Also reports 30 bit color.

Using on nMP - UI@2560x1440, Resolution@5K, monitor seeing 4K. Neat trick that you can drive it with 2 DP cables if you want true 5K as the monitor as a "PbP". MacOS is fussy as you can't span the menu bar or dock across monitors. Also some apps won't let a window span monitors on only works on right or left side. Maybe someone has a hack to merge monitors.

*Bad part: Maybe a hundred hot pixels and a smudge so thinking these panels are seconds that Apple wouldn't accept. Looks like a starry night on the right side if I go all black. So far no dead pixels found. I didn't get far enough with the first one to notice. With both of them the build quality was shaky - glass doesn't quite line up with the bezel evenly side to side.
