But I was wondering if I should hold off until Oct to see if a new model is introduced. Is that wise? Or should I just buy one now...I'm a very compulsive buyer but I want to do this right. I'll use it mainly has a media center so something bluray compatible would be sweet. Speaking of which, are there any other macs out there that are HDCP compliant?

Have you considered a PS3? They are HDCP compliant (obviously), are a great media server (supporting network drives, too), and even has a Blu-Ray player.

I was actually thinking about that, but 1. I want a mac and 2. I'm not much of a gamer.

i'd wait until october 14th when it seems like there might be an announcement about something, we are so close to a possible update/revision

Well, if you DO want a Mini - you really should wait for the upcoming refresh. Keep in mind, it's not very likely the Mini will be updated to ship with a Blu-Ray drive this round - as much as just about anyone here would like that to be. (if anything, Blu-Ray will first debut on the expensive hardware first - Mac Pro and what not)

Even if you don't game - the PS3 is still cheaper than most dedicated Blu-Ray players on the market. Granted, I AM a gamer (console only) but my PS3 spends most of it's time with video playback (via network), occasional music, and then Folding in the colder months. (its a great cancer-curing heater) So in short, it's more a media center, and that is certainly how I use mine.

I am in the same boat. I have been waiting about 60 days for the update. I am ready!

wait

I have a mac mini 1.66 core duo and it's a great little machine. It has far exceeded my expectations. But we do appear to be close to some sort of product refresh, so wait just a wee bit more.

if anything, the refresh might make previous generation hardware a bit cheaper.
