What is the game about though? Whats the gameplay? I keep seeing concept art and maybe the occasional screenshot but nobody has explained what you actually do in it.

It's a tower defense type game. You use plant "weapons" to shoot approaching zombies to defend your home.

I bought it on Steam yesterday – it's a almost too much fun!

I got this on steam as well. $9.99 compared to PopCap's site of $20 for PC/Mac. I love steam and can't deny 50% off, though I'm running this in VMWare Fusion which isn't a big deal it runs perfect.

... always sad to see that I could have gotten it for $10 with extras and a lifetime of redownloads on Steam compared to standard version for $20 with 3 activations on Popcap ...

very true.. tis why for myself piracy is an issue. I got the steam ver though, but mac version would be cool too.

Unfortunately I didn't like the game. I don't like the "click on the sun" part of the game. That single part of it killed the whole game for me. I'm not really into the whole tower defense style of game, either, though.

I ended up getting on Steam as well - five minutes watching me and both my kids wanted a whack at it. So one gets to play the Mac version, the other on Steam. Loads of gaming fun.

cheats?

Does anybody know if there is a trainer of hack available for this game?
I've searched but was unable to find any.
Thanks in advance.

Got it and beat it in less than a day. Then got bored of doing the puzzle, mini games and raising plants. Honestly the game is really short.

A great game, but this whole twice the cost for less game on the Mac thing is for the birds. $10 on Steam with lifetime access and more content vs $20 (still!) on PopCap is BS. If something like Steam were available and at $10, I would have gift subscribed some Mac copies like I have for younger relatives I have who have Steam. As it is, $20 is high enough to feel like a ripoff compared to the PC version.

I wish Apple would do something about this Steam situation. I've heard the stories that Valve has always wanted to do something but lacks traction from Apple.

I think this is an issue of both Apple not particularly caring about offering good support to game companies and Valve finding it convenient to blame Apple for their lack of Mac support.

I see the lack of a real gaming community for the Mac being more lack of interest from Apple to drive it's development as a viable platform than a lack of interest from the game publishing side. If Apple decided to promote gaming, it would happen.
