iPod play audio out of dock whilst connected to mac?

Hello
I want to play audio out of my apple ipod dock whilst it's connected to my mac.
So the dock is connected to the mac via usb and then there is a line out of my ipod dock connected to my stereo.
Then I can play music on my mac through the dock out into the amp.
