Play .avi and .wmv in Safari?

I'm trying to play some .avi files and .wmv in safari but they won't play... I've tried VLC and Flip4Mac... No any else?

I would like something like Perian but a internet plugin.

Flip4Mac Windows Media Plugin 2.3.4 should handle wmv and QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6 should handle avi. These work for me.

Post links to files that don't work for you, and then folks can test.

Same for me. Flip4Mac works fine.

For .AVI files, I had to install VLC Player on my iMac (using OS X). If wondering, not all .AVI files are the same. But VLC Player plays close to 98% of .AVI files. For more details, surf: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/5758/vlc-media-player

I have no problems playing any videos in my browser with perian and flip4mac:

Then I use vlc for .mkvs

Why not just use VLC for everything...that's what it's meant for, so you don't have to have a million things installed.
