Mmm the title says it all really. This wasn't a problem when I first upgraded to Take 2 but now (after it crashed once?) my iTunes play counts don't increment after watching a movie or a TV show. What's more annoying is the fact that when I try and play them again in iTunes it plays the last couple of seconds again and then finishes the film/TV show and incriments the play count??

It's really annoying, anyone else had this issue / solved it?

Cheers

Chris

I have the same exact problem (it really messes up my iPhone syncing since it looks for the first unplayed episode of a series), but have yet to find any solution for the problem. I was hoping the iTunes update would help, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. In my setup, the blue dot will disappear from my iTunes library, but the play count doesn't increment. This leads me to think that iTunes is really the culprit here, but it is really anyone's guess.

Hmm, well it's good to know I'm not the only one! I too thought it might be an iTunes problem, but I haven't changed anything with iTunes since getting my Apple TV and it's suddenly started happening

I was thinking maybe re-synching my Apple TV but if you're having the same problem with the iPhone it seems like it maybe a bit pointless. I have an iPhone too but generally don't put any movies or TV shows on it. Maybe the iPhone is to blame some how??

I think the problem lies with how iTunes updates its library when someone is viewed on the AppleTV. It is clearing the blue dot, but simply not incrementing the play count. If it did this, I think everything would be OK. It could also be tied to how often AppleTV sends data back to the iTunes library to update the database.

The iPhone simply isn't syncing right anymore due to the fact the play count says zero when it should say one.

The weird thing is when I try and play the same video file in iTunes after watching it on the Apple TV, I view the last couple of seconds and then the video finishes and the incriment happens. This would imply to me that the Apple TV thinks the video is finished but iTunes doesn't. This could be a problem with the streaming and iTunes.

That's why I thought maybe I should unpair my apple tv and iTunes and re-pair them to fix the sync issue. What do you think?

Worth a shot; I haven't had time to really sit down and look at the issue, and I'm not going to be home this weekend to play around with it. Let me know if it helps.

Ok, well I deleted my Apple TV from iTunes and re-added and I'm still having the problem. I haven't checked if it's an issue with synced items yet but streaming files are still doing exactly the same hummmm /sigh :(
