Playing music and volume button issue

I'm having an issue playing my music through the EarPods. Usually when I press play the music starts but now nothing plays. I found that I have to close apps like YouTube or camera app to switch the focus back the music app.

This issue also effects the volume button. When I manually go and play a song from the music app and then try to lower the volume it simply won't work, I have to check again in app switcher if the camera app is on or something else.


I'm on OS 9.1. Latest version

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a fix for it?

That is definitely strange. does it only happen when you have Earbuds in or all the time even playing music through the speaker on the phone?

Even without the EarPods, I would swipe up from the lock screen and press play but nothing gets played and once I do it manually the volume button doesn't work unless the focus is on the music app.

Hmmm I'd try a reset of all settings and go from there. If that doesn't work restore in iTunes set up as new
