Playing WoW via Parallels on a Bootcamp partition

Hi there,

Installed XP on my new iMac to get into some gaming. Was able to install the latest catalyst drivers with mobility modder (although, can't remember how I did it, remember it was kind of tricky)

Anyway, thought I'd install Parallels and use it together with my Bootcamp partition to be able to play World of Warcraft in OS X, so I'd be able to do some multitasking.

After installation of parallels, I noticed that the display adapter is called Parallels video driver, and not HD2600 Pro.

Tried to run WoW, which gave me a message: "was unable to start up 3d acceleration".

How do I fix this?
Is it possible to use ATI's drivers in Parallels?

Parallels' 3D acceleration doesn't do all the stuff WoW needs and you can't run the ATI drivers under Parallels.

I'm curious, why not just run the OSX version of WoW, should run great on your iMac? Last time I compared, it didn't run as fast as the Windows version on my MBP, but it will certainly run better natively on OSX than under virtualization, even if you could run it on Parallels.

Well, you have very good system specs, ideal for running Parallels.
I don't know what version of DX WoW requires, but I know that unofficially Parallels supports DX 9.0
Nevertheless, this support is unofficial and I wouldn't rely on it.
They say here, that Parallels supports Warcraft 3, so I assume WoW will work, but nort very smooth.

Imagine, you have 2 Gigs allocated to OS x and 2 Gigs to Windows... This is a lot! A machine of my dreams

If you get the Mac version, you can still do multitasking...I do it all the time. You can have several apps open in OSX and Parallels while playing WOW in windowed mode.

If you are wondering, you CAN use almost all mods and add-ons that you used on the Windows version on the mac. They're the same file on both systems.

why give so much to windows? i have 3 gb allocated to os x and 1 gb to xp pro... anyway pc games and mac means boot camp, regardless of your hardware, due to the current capabilities of virtualization software
