Playing xvid and DivX .avi Files in Quicktime and FrontRow?

I was hoping if anyone could explain how to make .avi (XviD and DivX) files playable in FrontRow and Quicktime?

Go to http://www.divx.com/ and download the codec/player and you should be able to play .avi files in quicktime, not sure about front row though.

Any video that you can play in Quicktime will play in Front Row. Go get the DivX codec to allow you to watch those movies in Quicktime. It'll carry over to Front Row.

You can get Xvid and AC3 components too:

If you're on Intel:

Get the XviD_Avi_Import_Preview4_intel from here:
http://n.ethz.ch/student/naegelic/download/

Get the AC3Codec_bin_intel from here:
http://n.ethz.ch/student/naegelic/ac3/index.php

Or if you're on PPC, just get the relevant PPC ones. They work great.

The only caveat with the posted solution is that it doesn't work for movies encoded with AC3...those crash quicktime/frontrow...one day a solution will crop up I suppose...
