there is an alternative to genius available that might be worth checking out: it's called "mufin" and is based on an algorythm by fraunhofer institute, the guys who also invented the mp3 format.
it is a free plug-in for itunes, and it creates playlists without sending any information to apple or else.
as the similarity of the songs is based on pure sound analysis and not recommendation or evaluation, it might offer some surprising yet unbiased results.
