Since upgrading to iTunes 7.7 and iPhone 2.0 (on a first gen phone) i have noticed that playlists that I don't have checked are getting synced to the phone. I don't know if this is a bug or a new feature.

I have a large iTunes library so I keep a playlist of about 600 or so songs for the iPhone. I have iTunes set to sync to that and one other smaller playlist. That's it; no other playlists are checked. But on my iPhone are 4 other playlists: Recently Added, Recently Played, Purchased, and a smart playlist I created on music released in 2008 called "2008 Music"

The weird part is that it's not syncing any additional music; the only songs in those playlists on the phone are the ones that I have in the iPhone playlist. That would lead me to believe it's something new in 7.7 that automatically puts those playlists on the phone just like in iTunes itself, except for 2 things: 1) I can't delete them and 2) it's still syncing a playlist that I made (2008 Music). I have other smart playlists that aren't syncing, so I can't figure out what the deal is.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm bringing this old thread back to life to see if anyone has any new info since it was originally made.

I also have 2 playlists syncing that aren't supposed to be. I have about 40 playlists on my Mac, I've chosen 7, and I constantly get 9 on my iPhone.

I can't figure out how to kill the other 2, nor can I figure out WHY it's just those 2 that are forcing themselves on the phone. (There are many others with the same characteristics that aren't being synced.)

Anyone know anything?

It's probably something to do with dependencies.

ie If you have a smart playlist based (depending on) on other playlists those playlists will get synced across.

Also, if one song appears in numerous playlists then all the playlists will get synced across.

ie If you had a "Faves" playlist and a "2008" playlist and one song appeared in both, then regardless of what you have checked both playlists get synced across, but NOT all the other songs in the playlists and the actual song itself only gets copied across once, of course.

It's crappy behaviour.

Im having the same issue. Some of the playlists no longer exists in Itunes anymore.

Ive tried clearing all songs off the iphone and re-syncing but they come back.

Extremely annoying.
