iPod Playlists on ITunes & Folders

I am pulling together a biography of a singer and have, thus far, made playlists in the following format: artiste name - year - album. As he has got some 150 entries across multiple albums, can I create a master artiste folder and then have each year as a sub folder?

you can just set up a intelligent playlist, enter the artist's name as criteria.

then you go to that playlist, set view to 'grid'.

select choose album as criteria on top.

now right-click on this album button and choose 'sort in this artist': 'by year'
