Playlists with album covers

I have a of Playlists with a whole album and therefore want the ordinary album cover. In iOS 17.1 I can’t find a way to choose the album picture for a playlist. It seems I must choose one of apples already made cover art or save the album cover to files.
My question: am I right or can we still easily choose the original album cover that shows in AM for playlist?

There should be a button with camera icon for you to choose photo.

Yes, you can choose a photo - but I want AM just to generate the playlist cover as it did before but it seems not to be the case anymore.
