Hi all,

Just moved to a new place and set up my network. The internet is working fine on the desktops, iPad/iPhones, but is having a total fail on the consoles. Connections seem very intermittent (ie: not able to sign in at times) and download speeds are cripplingly slow.

I'm using an AirPort Extreme Dual Band base station, along with the router given by my IPS (a Thomson SpeedTouch). Signal strength doesn't seem an issue, and the AirPort is creating 2 networks - first for 802.11n at 5GHz, and then a b/g network which the consoles and other slower devices are connected to.

Bit lost really as to why half my kit is working, and not the other!

If the ISP modem/router is doing NAT (Network Address Translation) then set your Airport Extreme to "Bridged Mode" so it won't do NAT and let only the router closet to the modem to do NAT. Double NAT in any network is not a very good idea, it can lead to many network collisions.

NAT didn't seem to be the issue. I cheated, and added in an old AirPort Express working on b/g connected directly to the ISP's router - worked a treat. Ergo, the problem must be with the AirPort Extreme and its handling of dual band.
