Hi,

I borrowed my friends PS3 so i could play mass effect 3. I played it, beat it and then went and bought my own PS3 (it just happened to go on sale this week)

But, of course my saved game files for Mass Effect 3 or on my friends machine, not mine.

Then i saw that i could subscribe to Playstation Plus, and that i can upload my saved game files to the 'cloud' and then log in on my PS3 and pick up where i left off! Awesome!

so i pay the money, upload the files, wait 24 hours, access the new files on MY ps3, pop in my disc of ME3 and.....nuthing

it's asking me to start a whole new game....ARGHHH

what am i missing????

thanks..

Not really mac gaming. But Ok.

You signed into your PSN account to play on his PS3. Then copied the save file from his ps3 and uploaded it to your psn+ account. Then signed in on your ps3 and downloaded the file.

All of this was done on same account? If not then that may be the issue. EA/Bioware likes to keep tracking type items online. So I am not 100% sure if the saves are tied to the names or not but they may be.

i didn't see a console section, my bad if this is the wrong spot for this post. Thanks for the reply.

The game was played using my buddy's profile on his PS3 and i think that is the issue. I did make my own profile on HIS machine, and the game files won't even copy from his profile to mine on the same machine, but i think that is because ME3 save files are copy protected. And that is why they came out with this PS+ online storage option. But, even though it looks like i got it to work (i can see my downloaded saved game file on MY machine) but regardless, when i insert my game disc, it is still asking me to start a whole new game....booo....

glad i wasted $$ on PS plus....:(

FYI, there is a separate games console section.

This is more of how EA/Bioware handles profiles and items attached to it. They tie the save to the online account because they have special item you can earn via playing other games of thiers or special promotions elsewhere on the internet.

But PSN+ is not a total waste with some of the games they give out monthly and this month it totally pays.

They have several PS3 games up for PSN+ members for free. Check out the PSN store and click on PSN Plus and then go to new arrivals. Today I grabbed 4 full PS3 games for free. There are a few more in there but I already own a few of the titles.
