This might be old news, but I thought I would pass it on.
A week ago, my G5 iMac (1st gen w/no iSight) just wouldn't turn on. I've had it for two and a half years with no other problems. I don't have an Applecare plan with it.
The guys at the shop stopped me mid-sentence as I was telling them about the problem. Turns out Apple extended the warranty on the power supply and some other specific part on the motherboard due to a known problem with these components on that particular iMac model. So, it got fixed free of charge.
