It would be so nice if the notification center shows you the 'today' view when you have no notifications. Same with the Lockscreen.

The clock and date is on the upper right of the screen in this view, so nobody would think his widgets are actual notifications (lockscreen).

Or if you could swipe down in the right side statusbar to reveal the notification view and swipe on the left side to bring up the today view.

I could imagine a seperate settings section in the settings app for that.

Or just simply remember the last used section/screen like it did before iOS 10.

my guess is apple wanted to ditch the widgets in the top tray and shift people to using widgets exclusively from the home and lock screens.

an older beta did not have widgets on the tray when you opened it on the home or lock screen. people didn't like it, my guess is they added it back because of the reaction, but i think they still want that top tray to be more about notifications.

i think they should give up on that idea. i like either of the two suggestions in this thread- only show notifications when there are some (since you last viewed it?), or simply remember the last tab.
