I downloaded Gemini 2 today, and started using it. It said it found duplicates, and they were moved to the Trash. But my duplicates were not moved to the Trash, because my Mac Trash is empty. And I didn't empty it.
When I clicked on Review Trash on Gemini2, each item has an ! mark beside it, and when I click on ! message states This file cannot be put back."
I wanted to move the duplicate items from the Trash to a separate folder so I could save them and check them later, but I can't because they are not in the Trash.
Have I lost everything?
I'm sitting here crying because I fear I have lost so many memories.
I know, I know, I was warned I shouldn't download it...
I so hope you can help me. And thank you very much.

Not quite sure where your photos may be, but they (I am sorry to say) may be permanently gone :(

There is an option in Gemini 2 -> Settings -> Removal to select a separate folder to which you can move de-dupes for final decisions after 'removal':

Having accidentally (and sometimes through no real fault of my own) lost GB's of photos/docs over the years, I've developed a group of strategies to help mitigate further loss.

Most of these revolve around multiple backups, and not experimenting directly on originals in any form.

Gemini 2 is really handy, but a little annoying in its persistence and prejudice towards deleting stuff ;)

Use it on copies . . . when you're satisfied, then you can permanently send the culls into the void.
