Hi everyone, just really paranoid about reading all these issues involving bending, warping etc so I took a few pics of my brand new iPad Pro 11 inch..I have NOT turned it on yet but I took some pics of the back of it..honestly to me it looks perfectly fine but really dont know what to look for. Mine is the wifi version NOT cellular, bought it from best buy. Let me know what else I have to check when I turn it on, etc to see if its all good.
Thanks so much!

One image you see the glare from my phone so disregard that LOL

Thank you thank you..I know, Im overly obsessed, my first ipad, it was issues with the light bleed, now its bending iPads..I guess if something were warped on the back you could all see it? Now will check for light bleed of course :)

Look at it from each of the edges and see if the iPad looks flat to you. If it does, then it’s not bent. It’s hard to tell that from a straight photo of the back.
But the main point here is that if the iPad looks good to you out of the box and doesn’t look like someone has bent it or sat on it, then that’s great. It will only be a very small number of them that didn’t arrive straight out of the box, the majority will be fine.

Yes! Your new ipad pro looks beautiful. Please disregard all the fear mongering about bending ipads and just ENJOY it!

This is starting to get out of hand, honestly. OP, if you don't see a bend or warp, then who cares what the internet thinks? Enjoy it, already, that's what you bought it for!

Oh, and BTW, it looks fine to me.

Totally agree, this is getting out of hand.

Agree. First of all, there is little chance that someone over the Internet could spot something in a photo that you can't see in person, and if you can't tell whether or not there is a defect then I would say there is no defect. Just enjoy your machine.

OP Do you want a Frank Opinion or something that will make you Happy ? If you want the first, the Picture that you have posted does not very clearly suggest anything, you gotta remove the plastic put it on a flat table with the screen facing upwards, then take a picture and ask us. Maybe then it will give a clear idea on if it is bent or not ? (As The Verge guys have posted a Picture) and if you want a second opinion Just Forget it !! And Enjoy !!

is there any Possibility that if one delays the decision to buy one of 2018 iPad Pro this bent issue, which is a Manufacturing defect will be corrected and all the future models will not have it ? Thinking about a right timing to take the plunge !

Was busy this week but what I did is I took off the plastic(I dont have a screen protector so obviously I dont want to take off the front, so I took off the back of the plastic and placed it on the top of the ipad box that it came in since its a smooth surface, to see if I see any issues with bending and I dont see anything..will post a photo of it tomorrow everything seems fine I know overly paranoid..seems that every time a new ipad comes out there are issues I guess there is never perfection with these things. I remember the ipad light bleed issues from a few years ago, replaced 3 ipads til I got one that was perfect

Ok so update on new ipad..today I turned it on for the very first time..so far so good..just have to get used to some things..first of all..to shut the ipad down I cant press the top button anymore? I tried doing that but every time I tried siri would pop up asking what I want to do LOL so I googled it and it said something about having to go into settings and general than SHUT DOWN..is that the way to do it just seems weird I figured the top button would be used to turn it ON and OFF is that no longer the case? Also..when I want to close down apps, before with old ipads, I would hold down the home button twice and it would bring up all the apps I would use and I would have the option to close which ones I no longer want, since I dont have a home button here..what do I have to do in order to do that? Thanks so much!

Spend some time going through the iOS manual here. The lack of home button will require you to get used to some new gestures. Some other points:
  • Unless you’re not going to use you iPad for a long time, don’t bother switching it off. They manage power usage exceptionally well, drawing little power when sleeping. If you like, turn on Flight Mode to disable radios (WiFi, Bluetooth).
  • You don’t need to “close” apps, for the most part they become dormant after a few seconds when in the background. As per the above, iOS manages power usage very well.
Just relax and go with the flow!

I'd like to apologise on behalf of this forum for getting you so paranoid about your iPad.

Negatives get way way way overblown on here fyi.

That's what I meant to say.....

To turn off power press down the top switch and the side volume + together.

To close tabs swipe up from the bottom and momentarily hold your finger about mid way.

OP don’t obsess about it. If you think it looks bent then that’s one thing but don’t get paranoid over what others have experienced.

A few here thought mine was bent but after measuring it properly it is flat. Sometimes pictures and angles you take can make things look different
