I recently got done with a site redesign and I need some input.

The old site was designed for e-commerce, but the company decided to change direction. The new site is more for information about the product.

New site (now in production) -http://everrose.com/

Thanks in advanced.

My first impression is that I like the old site better. Probably not what you wanted to hear but that's the way I feel. The old site seems to flow better and I prefer the color scheme as well as the graphics.

I know about the titles. Also the content is not final, it's just temporary.

About the design, that was supplied by the company. I do agree the old site flows better and will try improve the new one.

I'm put off the navigation. I know its trendy, but turning my head to the side (at least on the home page) is beyond irritating. Including the product codes (EG SB20) in the product titles looks wrong. If they need to be included they should be at the end of the description or something.

The site is elegant, I think you've done a nice job there.

Why the > 2-3 inch vertical gap at the start of the front page for the new site? The bottom edge of the white box doesn't actually show until I scroll down in my browser on my laptop due to this - so you lose the effect.

The words are cutting off their end letters - e.g. S of PRODUCTS etc.
It's a pain in the RSS to have to read sideways. No need to have it unreadable. Having them move when you mouse over is also an irritant.

Why would i have to click on them before that yawning gap gets shown to be of some use, by having it fill in with links? The 45 degree angle is better than nothing, but the movement on mouse over is still annoying. I like the mouseover of the pictures showing to the left.

On the FAQ there is the big vertical gap again. Nice ot be able to just down arrow through the choices, but again, i couldn't see the bottom of the page in my default view.

Your main rose, and also the everose logo isn't actually clickable. You may or may not be missing a trick here. Might not the about be linked into clicking the logo?

I don't like how the navigation text is horizontal, I had a hard time reading it.

Do you mean vertical?

I will try shrinking the space at the top by making the navigation more horizontal, but as for the navigation on the index, I don't really know how to change it. Can someone please give me some ideas to try out.

The pink rose is just a design element and I didn't want to have any user interaction with it, but the logo does return to the index page from an other page, I guess I could make it go to about from the index. Is it a good idea to have the logo have two actions?

The mouse over movement does have to stay as it was a specific request.

A couple of notes

I'm not convinced moving the navigation from it's opening position to the outside of the box vertical slant is a good move. It's a fine visual effect but one more thing the user has to "think" about before clicking again. Steve Krug might not be happy with that one.

The other thing is on the FAQ page you have a link to a color chart. I know once you click the flower you get the name of the flower, but I think it might be nice if you get the name of color hovering over each preview, or at the bottom of each preview as you roll over them.

Finally, on your scroll bars have you considered making the square bigger or adding arrows for up and down. I know you can click on the thin part of the bar itself to scroll but most people will instinctively reach for the scroll bar, and having it be a small square gives it a small hit space. The arrows would just be to comply with what users are used to seeing on OS X, Linux GUIs, or Windows.

Good luck!

I added the hover over feature to show the name of the color to the bottom of each flower. That was a good suggestion, I didn't think it was necessary at first, but I like how it turned out.

I also made the scroll bar handle bigger, once I figure out why the arrows at the top and bottom aren't showing I will have that fixed next. The scroll bar does respond to the scroll action, but does anyone know how to get it to respond to a two finger scroll on an iPhone?
