Hi I wonder if u guys could help as I've got major problems with my 5,1

I havent used my Pro for a while 6 months or more started it up no problem

I watched a video on the tube about installing Ventura on one with opencore
So I went a head and installed it on a nvme in a pcie adapter al was good got it up running everything was going well then thats when the nightmare began

It shut down and started to try restart but all it did was start flashing red lights near the cpu, ram and constantly clicking and the fans on full speed I shut it down and it was constantly doing this so I left it over night same thing in the morning

I left it plugged in then 10 -20 min later it started clicking and came to life and booted up great I thought then it shut down again

Then it wouldnt start it was dead so I took the nvme out and just tried to boot it into Mojave no go unplugged it left it for a few hours plugged it in turned it on then it started clicking flashing again then it booted up restarted fine did that a few times great thought it was fixed
Left it running while I went out for a hour came back dead wont start left it over night nothing wont start at all

Ive spent 3 days on it now and I'm going round in circles removing ram etc etc but nothing seems to solve it

If anyone has some advice on what to try that would be great as im loosing the will to live lol
Thanks
Ps it is a 2009 4,1 upgraded to a 5,1 if that makes any difference and was running Mojave on a ssd with 64GB ram, Cpu 2 x X5680, GPU HD 5770 and ive ordered a 4.1 backplate that's not arrived as yet

No that's the problem I haven't

If the backplate doesn't work I guess I should look 4 a cheap one at least I have the old cpus that it come with originally so I could try them

Right i recieved the Apple Mac Pro Backplane Logic Board 4,1 2009 - EMC 2314 - 820-2337-A

Ive installed but it wont boot using my 5,1 Flashed Dual Tray as i guess this is normal as the X5680 are not compatible with 4,1

So to upgrade the new Backplane do i need to just install 2 x compatible cpus that will work with 4,1 and upgrade that way?

Thanks

An early-2009 Mac Pro that wasn't yet cross-flashed to MacPro5,1 won't run with Westmere Xeons. So, yes, you will need to install the factory Nehalem Xeons first.

Btw, instead of cross-flashing it again, you should do a BootROM reconstruction service instead, this way you will solve the cross-flashing issues that bricked the original backplane and also will have preboot-configuration support with PC GPUs via EnableGop.

I'll send you a PM (top right of the site, white letter icon) about the BootROM reconstruction service - with instructions on how to get everything required to validate your BootROM dump, the service cost and the turnaround time.

Nope, El Capitan is the most recent macOS release that an early-2009 can boot. Leopard to El Capitan.
