Hi all. Excuse me for being no expert on Apple. Other than phones and iPads I have no experience. However I want to get myself a Mac mini. I have a redundant screen which I may use with it, so my question is whether it is possible.

My screen is a Samsung 2232BW which has DVI in and RGB connections. On the front is a sticker saying '2ms 3000:1 Dynamic Contrast'.

Can any of the Mac mini experts help?

Cheers

As long as your monitor has a DVI connection, which it does, you can use it with any Mac Mini. However, with the current models, you'll need an adapter. I think they come with one, but I don't to what video type.

It will work. If the supplied adaptor in the mac mini box does not fit just pick up a mini display port to DVI adaptor and you are set.

The following adapters will give you VGA or DVI on any mini with a MDP or Thunderbolt port. Basically any mini that is less than three years old will work with these. You will still need a DVI or VGA cable with these.

Also you can get complete all-in-one cables (not just the adapters):

I had a similar question to the OP so you guys answered it. I have another question though. If all i'm using the mini is for Web, iRadio, email, Youtube is the dual core i5 plenty or is the i7 quad recommended? I've been reading that Maverick runs really well on older equipment.

When you say Youtube, are you talking about watching videos or encoding videos to post to Youtube? The i5, despite being dual core, isn't really "old" tech and should be fine for your purposes. If you're planning to do a lot of video encoding, the i7 paired with the right software could cut down your encode times.

The dual core is ample. But the quad core will give you that warm fuzzy feeling :)

Yeah guys I meant to say watching YT videos. I'm waiting to see if Apple will update the MM with Haswell. I may bite in the next 2 months if there's no refresh.

Do that ANY time:
- they are not fugly white
- they are only 4-5 bucks.
- they won't get loose

Huh? If you sit on it and let your testicles rest on it, or what?

Well look who woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.

Funny quote!
Here we get out of bed with the wrong leg. But not today. Apple is just stupid to still include white cable's with otherwise black-and-aluminium macs (I assume you had problems with that statement).
