Hi Guys,

What im trying to do is bust the silly myth that MacBooks and well Apple laptops in general should not be run with the lid closed *i develop InsomniaX so big myth for me to always be asked*

So basically what i would like if you are willing is for you to simply download InsomniaX/SleepLess/Use normal ClamShell and then use a program like TempMonitor

Then go about your usual doings, and keep the graph running, after the system is at its usual temp keep running for about 10 mins, then repeat the same kind of load of that 10 mins again but with the lid closed *may need to automate if you dont have screen etc*

Then simply grab a screenshot of the graph and try to indicate the times where the lid was closed etc and post them here

Anyone willing to help will be greatly appreciated in "busting" this myth

So one of two things will bust here... a myth or a laptop.

I will love to see the result. Sadly I am not up for the risk.

I finished the test. Here are the results.

Lol, there would be no damage done in 10 minutes...maybe hours, but that is what they are trying to see.

Thanks for your help, so far that 1 graph shows it doesnt change, but because we are only doing it for 10 minutes the laptop might not of cooled down if it was hot...

I picked 10 minutes just to be on the safe side and so its not annoying, but if anyone is willing to go to a hour or more that would be excellent as well.

Sure thingo, i suppose. I have nothing better to do.

Just for the record, i regularly run this thing at nighttimes with Itunes running. I dont know what kind of CPU load would damage my MB, but i havnt noticed anything. I also shut it overnight and leave it running with no apps - no CPU load but no damage.
