Hi guys i have a mac pro 2008 model 2.8GHZ dual xeon processors, i have read into this and it says 8-cores of processing power. Now is this for the total of 2 processors or is this per processor???

Duel Xeon. Two processors. I'm reading four per processor. Why is this an issue?
not an issue i was just wanting to know if this was a single 8-core processor per processor "or" 4-core processor per processing adding to eight in total

Each processor has 4 cores for a total of 8 cores all together. In the 2010-2012 cMP's you can get 6 core processors and two processors will give you 12 cores.

To confirm your inquiry, here's a sample screenshot of a 2008 Mac Pro with 2 cpus as quad cores totalling to 8 cores.

Here are the specs of the 2008 Mac Pro from Apple

If I am not mistaken, Apple also released a single cpu 2008 Mac Pro though they're not too common. The most popular is the 8 core 2.8ghz.
