I have been having problems with my 2.8 iMac not waking up when it goes into power saver. While reading through threads here, someone had a similiar problem and someone suggested resetting the SMU. I did this (power off iMac, unplug everything, plug power cord back in while holding down the power button, then release the power button and power iMac back on).

Well now my fan is running super fast! I tried rebooting but no luck.

ANY HELP is REALLY APPRECIATED PLEASE

Okay, some confusion here between old PMU and your new SMC...

Unplug just as you did, wait a minute or so, plug in and start back up with just a normal button press. Your imac will be fine.

Cheers

Thank you, thank you!!

I tried unplugging it at first and when I powered it on the fan was running super fast again. I just unplugged it again but for about 5 mins and all is good, at least for the fan problem....

Thanks for your help.
