Hi, yesterday I bought the new Mac Mini. After a bit of frustration we finally got it set up to transfer many MANY files from my old Macbook to the Mini. This process has been undertaking all last night and the estimated time is 34 hours. I am not going to wait this long so how can I stop this process safely? Thanks,

There is a cross (X) in the copy progress bar at the right end. Hit it to stop copying.

there is none

It is an X in a circle.

You could just wait the 36 hours. Why not? Or if you are worried about the Mac Mini, then turn off the MacBook. If you have any serious problems afterwards, which you won't, you can just reinstall OS X. You just got the computer yesterday. It wouldn't be a big deal.

Next time connect via target disk or ethernet. It sounds like you tried to do this over WiFi or some super slow router.
