Guys - I have searched here but cannot find a solution.
I have a 1.8 Air with the SSD. It has been great until recently. I mean, it gets WAY too hot but I can live with it. But, I have had two problems emerge recently:
1) For about the past two months, when I am at home with my TimeCapsule, the Air will never remember the network once it has been to sleep. When I force it back on to the network, it stays on for about 30 seconds, then drops it. Every time. When I force it on a second time it stays connected. Now, I know others have had this problem with TC's and Air. I have reset my TC to try to fix the problem but to no avail. This is very annoying but is NOT my main problem (I mention it only in case it is relevant to the diagnosis of my real issue)
2) For the past three weeks for so, I have had a much worse problem: the computer has become disastrously slow when surfing the net. Pretty much all the time - although occasionally it will have a good spurt of two or three page views, and then its back to pre dial up speeds. this is happening wherever I get online - not just on my TC. In fact, it is even happening when I am directly connected through the Ethernet dongle. And with either Safari or Firefox.
The computer behaves normally otherwise. It is no slower on start up, when running other apps etc. I thought it might be a bad airport card, but the poor Ethernet performance seems to rule that out. By the way, I have a MacPro that is connected wirelessly to the TC - and it has no issues whatsoever. Lastly, I would mention that when I run a bandwidth speed test, I get poor results, but nothing like as poor as they should be. I mean, the test that is usually instantaneous runs for 15 seconds or so and tells me I am getting 500 kbps. It is almost as if the computer is holding up the command going through the browser for a period - when it eventually goes it performs ok - like a stutter. In fact, now that I think about it, when I am browsing, I do not have pages slowly building - rather I get nothing for a (long) period and then it eventually builds all at once.
So, that is my story. I would be very grateful for any guidance. I will head in to the "geniuses" if I cannot get a fix here, but I have very little confidence in those guys.
