I just got 2 512 sticks for my mackbook and am trying to install them. I took out the two original ones and put the new ones in. I tried to turn on the computer but the LED started blinking and the computer wouldn't turn on. I opened it back up and took out one of the stick, the computer turned on normally. I opened it back up and inserted the original 256 in the empty slot and the computer wouldn't turn on. What's going on? Is the slot messed up, and if so, what should I do?

No its for a MacBook, you just insert it into a slot
Sorry, not the Pro.

OK, it is still more likely to be incomplete insertion into the socket than anything else.

Work with your 2 known-good Apple modules, and swap them individually into socket to establish they are working. Then once verified, try socket 2.

You ARE taking static precautions, aren't you? Either wear a strap or keep skin contact on metal the whole time.

Oh man i finally got it. You were right, it wasn't totally in. When i first inserted it i pushed as hard as i could with my thumbs but it didn't work. Then i pushed as hard as i could with the end of the screwdriver and it finally got in after a hell of a lot of pressure. Thanks a lot.

P.S. This is the first time i'm upgrading RAM and i didn't do that skin contact to metal thing, thanks a lot for reminding me cause now i have my brothers MacBook to do and i'll def. do that.

Rock the simply very gently (and subtly) one side and then the other. when it finds it's seat, you will feel it. Then close it back up and give it a try. It is much more likely that you didn't seat one simm fully rather than that the RAM is bad (although that is possible).
