Please help me decide which model is suitable for me!

Hi there!
I live in outside US and in my country Needless to say, Apple products are way more expensive than in the US. So here is my dilemma. I can acces with little money difference to these two MacBook Air models but I have to choose obviously just one for me.
Given the chance to pick from a MacBook Air early 2015 with 256 Gb storage or a new mid 2017 but 128 Gb storage, what would yo do?
Both share almost everything besides a small improvement in the processor on 2017. Design is the same; screen is the same.... so, what would you choose?

It depends on your needs.

You probably own a computer already, take a look at your current disk usage and add in some margin for future needs. Most probably you'll need more than 128gb unless you can make good use of an external drive.

Well, depending which storage size you need. Age and performance should not make a big difference. I run a 8 year old Air. Probably guarantee is also a topic you should consider.

Btw, I only own 128GB but am fine with it as I nearly store everything in whatever cloud. Mails by default, Music in iTunes Match, photos in iCloud and Google, etc. I think this is what you‘re supposed to do with these slim devices. Or get an external disk of course....

Get the 256 Gb. The CPU difference is not much, and probably not even noticeable. But the larger drive is extremely useful. The larger drives are also a bit faster.

I got an Air with only 256 Gb. When I started to notice all the things the Air could do the more I wanted to install on it just to have the option.... and now the 256 just barely cuts it for me.

Even though dealing with small ssds has been normal now for many years, 128 is still a really small drive all things considered.

I think there's no question that a 2015 with 256gb is better. The performance difference would be negligible and you will be glad to have the extra 128gb of storage. But if the 2017 is new with a warranty and the 2015 is used without one, that should be taken into consideration. In that case the condition of the 2015 would be important.

Thank you for your answer. Right now I am using much more of course, but that’s because I use my notebook for gaming and to store photos, something I might do in other devices if I must

2015, absolutely. After you get all of your files and the OS on the two, I dare say the overall real world performance of the 256 GB 2015 will be superior to the 128 GB 2017 because of how much a SSD's write speeds can slow as the drive becomes increasingly filled.

If you have access to WiFi in your daily routine then 128 is doable, if not the 256.
