iPhone Please help me KILL automatic iOS 7.0.2 OTA update on my Jailbroken 4S on 5.1.1

I bought a used iPhone 4S (on iOS 5.1.1) yesterday and it was not jailbroken so i did an erase all settings and content to setup iPhone as new. Did that and first thing i did was jailbroke the iPhone with Absinthe.
Now i just went to General -> software update and i see that the 7.0.2 update as partially downloaded and i connected the iPhone to power supply and wifi was on and it resumed the update.
There is absolutely no way i can delete this update and no way to permanently stop this.
In gist, the iPhone started downloading the update without asking me and now gives me no option to stop or abort that.
Please let me know how can i kill this ? Will it install it automatically after downloading without my permission ?
How do i reclaim the 1.2 GB (approx) that i will lose because of this stupid unwarranted update.

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
Please do not say that iOS 7 is awesome and all. I know it is great but i do not want it for now.

I did not click any popup asking me to update to 7.0.2 (not sure if earlier user did it).
 
go to Cydia, find Software Update Killer and it'll prevent the iPhone from ever searching for an update again.

It can still find the update, it just won't let you install it

Download ifile from cydia and browse to /var/mobile/Library/SoftwareUpdate (I think that's the place) and delete the partially downloaded firmware

Also make sure to empty your trash if you have that enabled. You can uninstall ifile once you're done using it

I checked this location using iFile and there is just one 1.6 kb Plist and nothing else. I believe the software update killer deleted the files of OTA update. It was mentioned in the change log of that.
 
My iPad 3 has fully downloaded it in the same way but I don't want it. Has stolen 3GB of my 16Gb. Amy way to delete? I don't mind jail breaking it as I don't have warranty remaining or Apple Care on it.

Did you try Dartick's suggestion in post 5? It requires a jailbreak.

As a side note to everyone, you can easily block the update ping from ever happening by adding just 2 lines to your hosts file. The tweak is easier but I do the hosts file personally. Obviously it didn't matter on iOS 6 since the Evasion blocks OTA's but still worth mentioning.

What firmware version is your iPad 3?

Your only way of removing the downloaded package is either update or jailbreak and install Software Update Killer or download ifile from cydia and remove it from that location

Alternatively, you can use iFunbox on the computer and delete the file if you don't want to install ifile
 
The ifunbox idea mentioned above is also better if Jailbreaking is not possible.

You mean i cannot use iFunbox to navigate through the /var and all its subdirectories if i am not jailbroken ? Never noticed that since all iPhones in my home are jailbroken, will try with my Dad's iPhone since his is not jailbroken.

You can see the files but you can't modify them

You have limited access of the phone's directories. And even with the directories you can access, you can't add, delete, or rename files
 
im in the same boat

i have installed software update killer but my ipad 3 is still taking up 2.58gb, im sure its the OTA but ive checked the folders in ifile and i dont see anything except kb sized plist files

Are you referring to 2.58GB of "other"? It can't be the OTA as that would removed by installing software update killer

Around 2-2.50GB of "other" is what I consider normal/average for a jailbroken device. At least, from what I've observed on my device
 
I had a simular experience on my iPhone4 and simply used iLEX RAT to completely restore the iPhone (preserving Cydia) and then downloaded the above mentioned tweak- softwareupdatekiller.

I also added iCleanerPro that allows the Launch Daemons (OTA update daemons) to be deleted so I never have to face this issue again on this iPhone.
 
Thanks guys! you were right it wasnt the OTA but a failed download, from what i do not know but it was 1.3GB!!!!!

i checked var/mobile/media/downloads and deleted the seemingly random 1.3gb file!

my jailbroken size is now 1.28gb which seems and feels more normal to me than 2gb++

Edit: icleanerpro cleans up on an average 100mb, and software update killer completely killed my check updates option on settings, it just keeps loading haha

I have 3GB of "Other" on my jailbroken iphone and have not yet used the Software UPdate Killer tweak. Nothing in my /var/mobile/Library/SoftwareUpdate folder though besides one small plist file.

I really hope the tweak will also remove the downloaded update, wherever it may reside on my phone. I really need those 3 gigs back...

Any ideas about achieveing the same on an ipad that's not jailbroken?

I don't know how you use the phone or what kind of tweaks you have/use so can't say if 3GB is normal for you. For me, that would be starting to get big and I generally run icleaner to get back quite a bit of space from deleting the log files and application cache (for example, Dropbox thumbnails, Facebook pictures, Instagram photos, tumblr photos, etc)

Other can be all kind of data that isn't categorized. MMS, emails, etc

OK after using Software Update Killer my Other space shrunk to less than 1GB. All this means (and all I was saying) is apparently the update file was not located in /var/mobile/Library/SoftwareUpdate but somewhere else.
