Please help me pick out a backpack/sleeve for my 17" MBP

Hi,

I am going crazy looking for a backpack/sleeve combo for my brand new 17" Macbook Pro....I looked at the Brenthaven 15/17 backpack, but that doesn't allow you to use a sleeve (which means I will scratch up my baby!), I looked at the SFbags cargo bag and beautiful ballastic nylon sleeve, but that combo doesn't offer much protection, I looked at the tombihn stuff, and it looks promising - but I really prefer ballastic nylon....I also don't see any padding on their smartalec backpacks, has anyone tried the monoliths? Any other recommendations? I looked at Axio, and their backpacks don't allow you to put a sleeve on the 17" laptop, and they don't offer much protection either (the laptops go in the back of the pack, while the protective plastic is in the front!)......I want something military grade, bomb proof, yet really cool looking...please help!

I had the Tuscano sleeve and fit it perfectly within the SFBag. I have nothing but good things to say about SF bags, particularly the Cozmo bag. The strap is weighted perfectly and elastic so that it doesn't hurt your shoulder, and I carried my Powerbook around with me everywhere.

Seriously, get a sleeve, and just get the Cozmo bag, it's plenty good protection for the MBP, and the SFBag is VERY durable. I still have mine, don't even own the Powerbook anymore, and use the SFBag for everything from classes to cramming clothes in there to Coachella. The zipper is VERY durable, bag is waterproof, and I'm the worst abuser of travel bags. I destroyed and went through 6 different bags from department stores before I finally found one that lasts.

I've even crashed my old motorcycle (not too badly though) while wearing the Cozmo bag, and the Cozmo bag was in better shape than I was. I wish my skin was made of ballistic material.

Damn, I sound like a fanboy. It's very much worth the price.

A lot of people like Timbuk2's bags. I have their laptop case for my iBook which is a perfect fit (corduroy lining) and I also have their cargo tote (as a general use bag). They're both really well made and yes, feature ballistic nylon.

they make nice stuff, but they don't have much padding....My powerbook fell about two feet, and was dented in one of their sleevecases...I am currently looking into tombihn.com, but I was hoping to get more responses from other people who have used their stuff.

Expensive but a beast

I know you said a sleeve, but I thought I would throw this out as an idea.

The brenthaven Backpack. Its 179.00, but supposed to be amazinly durable and huge. I need huge so I can add my school books also.

I'm ordering mine soon so sorry but I don't have any first hand knowledge of this product, but like I said the reviews keep talking about its durability and protectiveness.
