Hi everyone,

I have my iphone all set up to check my email on my gmail account. The problem is, when I delete an email on my iphone, it also moves it to the trash folder on the gmail website. I have tried changing the "remove deleted messages" setting to "never" but it still moves them to the trash on gmail. I have also tried changing "deleted mailbox on server" to the inbox instead of the trash, but it still moves them to the trash.

I would like to just start over by deleting this email profile and creating a new one from scratch. If someone could provide the steps I need to take in the beginning to keep my emails from being deleted on the gmail website, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Anna

I don't think you can change that, whatever you do on your iphone also happens to your actual gmail account. But if you want to delete your gmail account on your iphone go to settings->mail->your gmail account-> then delete

All you need to do is go into your account's settings (on the website) and change your account type from IMAP to POP. You may need to delete the account off the iPhone and re-add it after that.

IMAP = changes made in one location (eg. reading an email, deleting it) are reflected across all account locations (eg. iPhone, desktop mail client, website)

POP = changes made in one location are not reflected in other locations

Thank you so much for your help, that worked perfectly. :D:D:D
