please help me unlock my 1.1.1 iphone

hi, i am new here and just screwed up my iphone. i hope you can help. i bought an iphone from the states version 1.1.1 and someone unlocked the sim for me in london. i tried updating my iphone to 1.1.2 and i srewed up as usual. now everytime i open my iphone, i get a message "incorrect sim" . i can still see my wallpaper in the background which i hope it means that i didnt loose all my info. please please tell me what to do and how do i unlock my sim step by step. i dont know who to ask cause i am abroad now and wont be back in london for another 2 weeks. my email is shabanimad@hotmail.com thanks
