Hi,

I am planning to buy 21.5 inch imac with i5, 1tb fusion drive and 8gb ram. in India apple doesn't let you customize the ram or hard driver. so my big worry is RAM is 8Gb enough for photoshop/lightroom and causal gaming?

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer the specific question but I would imagine most people would advise getting 16GB if you can in order to future-proof your device a little more. Is there no way of obtaining a custom build through a reseller?

thank you very much for reply. In india apple doesnt give the option to pick and modify. Most of the imac comes as assembled from outside. even i have contacted apple costumer care, they said they cant upgrade.

8GB with fusion is minimalistic but probably good enough for photoshop or lightroom or casual gaming. (I can only vouch for casual gaming). However attempting any two simultaneously would be asking for trouble.

If apple can't sell a 21.5" with 16GB you may need to consider a 27" for user upgradable ram.
