Hey guys!

So this morning I plugged my iPad Mini 2 Retina in as I was leaving at around 8AM. I bought this in November of 2013, I believe right after it was released. It has been bulletproof, even the original 4+ year old battery was still lasting for a long time. FWIW, I never upgraded to the newest iOS these last couple months.

I got back home around 3PM and it was fully charged and I used it to send out a couple invoices, since I use it for both work and business. It worked fine, I put it down until just now.

Now I pick it up and it's dead. Completely unresponsive. The Home button and the Lock button do nothing. So then all of a sudden after holding both the Home and Lock button in together for the 3rd time I see the little white Apple, it turned on. The battery says that it's at 89%, which is a bit low considering the little amount of usage it had since the last charge.

Does anyone know what this is? Is Apple trying to get me to upgrade the iOS??? lol

I guess maybe it is time for a new iPad? I could go for the bigger size screen but I definitely don't need super fast speed since this one I have now runs everything I need for work and play just fine. What would you recommend? It needs a cell antenna in it since I need internet when on the run.

I don't use iTunes. I have it set to backup to the iCloud, is that OK?

Sometimes iOS devices will completely freeze and unresponsive. If after a hard reset works fine, then your iPad should be fine. It happened to my iPad before as well. Nothing really to worry about.

But after 4 years of use, you should really have your battery checked. If your iPad’s battery has less than 80% of design capacity, then you need get a replacement battery.
