Hi all,

I have a very crucial question. My new iMac G5, (the aluminum one, 2.4 ghz, 20 inch screen) keeps shutting off randomly.

To restart it,I have to turn off the surge protector, unplug the power cord from the computer, and wait for about a minute before I can get started again.

I just switched from PC, can someone help me and give me a reason not to switch back?

first, your imac is an intel core 2 duo, not a g5. second, your mac shouldn't be shutting down randomly. call apple asap or take it back to an apple store and demand a fix/replacement.
