I am planning to buy a Macbook pro 15" 2018(2.2GHz Core i7/32GB RAM/512GB Harddisk) from a seller here in Dubai. It is a customized configuration Macbook Pro imported from US which costs around USD 2650.
Currently I own an iMac Retina 5K 27 inch Mid 2015 version(3.3GHz Core i5/16GB/512 SSD). Is it worth to go for the Macbook Pro upgrade with the configuration I mentioned above? I have got offers like USD 1000 for my iMac. Is it possible for me to use my Imac as an external display for my new Mccbook Pro? Is there hardware limitation for that? I really like the 5K screen. If I want to go for a new 4k or 5k monitor, I might need to pay more than old iMac right? Your recommendation is much appreciated to make an easy decision for me.
I keep finding lag when editing large photos in photoshop or light room in my iMac. So thought 32GB will be enough when foreseeing my future requirements for next a few years. Apart from the photo editing I do software development. Macbook pro will provide me mobility and a single a computer to carry around during my travels.
