Please Help! Uninstall Airport Update

Ok, I am about to throw this computer out the window. I installed the latest Airport Update from Apple and my computer loses connection every 5 minutes (it is not fun when you are paying bills online).

How do I uninstall the Airport Update? (step by step please).

Any help will be highly appreciated.

when you say the latest update do you mean the 'N' Updater or a security update for airport ?

AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001 Special Report follow-up: Changing protocol setting

Last week we published a special report on troubleshooting the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001. The report offers several workarounds for resolving the most pressing problems apparent after the update, particularly lapses in connectivity and inability to connect to wireless networks.

We've now received reported indicating that a workaround not mentioned in the report -- setting Base stations or third-party wireless routers to 802.11g only -- can have eliminate some dropouts and other issues. We previously reported this fix for boosting AirPort Extreme/Express throughput.

Change of this setting can be accomplished with the AirPort Admin Utility (located in Applications/Utilities).

Open the AirPort Admin Utility, and click on your desired Base station on the left-hand pane, then select "Configure." Go to the "AirPort" tab at the top. Next, find the "Mode" pop-up menu, and select 802.11g-only. Of course, you will need a Mac with an AirPort Extreme or other 802.11g-compatible wireless device in order to connect to the Base station.

I had tried that before, when I go to Select Base Station (Airport Admin Utility), there are no base stations, I press Rescan, still nothing, it's empty...

i'm not too sure about the process but this is what they say to do


"Reverting to older AirPort kernel extensions [Useful for: slow wireless throughput, router not recognized]

If you are having serious AirPort speed or connectivity issues after trying less drastic workarounds, you may want to try reverting to older version of the AirPort kernel extensions.

This can be accomplished by first downloading the shareware utility Pacifist, then obtaining the AirPort 4.1 updater package.

Use Pacifist to open the AirPort 4.1 package, and extract the following files:

* AppleAirPort.kext
* AppleAirPort2.kext
* AppleAirPort3.kext

Place these same files in the /System/Library/Extensions folder, replacing the old copies (you will be asked for your administrator password) and restart. You may need to repair permissions using Apple's Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities after restarting). "


i would not try this myself mind but it say's you will need to download the older Airport firmware and a program called pacifist


maybe someone else here has some better advice ?
