I would recommend g95 from www.g95.org. The developer is, I've been told, a real dick, and it is not GPL, but it us much further along than gfortran. There is a binary distribution for OS X.

My mistake. I guess the rift with the GCC folk was purely ideological, then. On the gfortran page about this they state that they forked the GPL version of the code in 2003, I thought that sort of implied it changed, but you're right.
