Forgive my ignorance please, but can someone please help me purchase the correct cable to connect a Mac Mini to my 42" Sony LCD.

I'm confused. Do I need to buy a miniDisplay to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI cable?

Thanks in advance!

Mini display to HDMI and I bought mine at monoprice and it works well.

Depends..

It varies depending on Mac Mini you have. My Mac Mini just needs a DVI--HDMI which can be bought at most local electronics stores.

I used this cable from monoprice.com

http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=6331&seq=1&format=2

it takes the video and audio outputs from the mini and combines them into a single HDMI output ... the USB is for the power necessary to do the mix

I've had this cable in place for 2 months now ... totally perfect!!

this connects directly to the mini - the only thing you need "extra" is an HDMI cable to connect this to your TV or receiver
