I have a friend low on the techie scale, and he'd like a utility program..that checks stuff out, cleans stuff..fixes small errors, "speeds up the mac"..that kind of thing.

Like I said, he's low techie, so Onyx really isn't the thing (he does have it)....something with more hand holding.

Can anyone recommend something that's good?

EtreCheck is a good place to start, it supplies a lot of information and can point you in the right direction.

Prob best not to use anything... these macs look after themselves.

Maybe admedic... just incase you're sucked into MacKeeper.

This isn't helpful. At all. In case you didn't read the whole original post, I have a non-techie friend who wants a program for computer maintenance. Whether or not a mac can or can not "look after themselves" is not an issue. My friend came to me, I came to the forum.

I thank those who responded with recommendations and information.
