Do you think that using a baseline 2010 mini with 2 GB of RAM as a Plex based media player would be a PITA? Do I have to upgrade to 4 GB even if Plex would be the only application running?

It remains to be seen how much of a RAM footprint 0.9 will take, but given all the work they've been putting into it, as well as their claims that 0.9 is going to have a narrower set of features (less of a 'kitchen sink' front-end) my hope would be that it would take up less RAM than 0.8. That said, I run 0.8 fine on a 2GB Macbook.

EDIT: Looks like they released it a day early... I'm currently downloading it and will report in shortly.

Plex runs fine on my first gen macbook with 1gb of ram 10.5.8. Although I haven't actually run any HD content yet, I have my doubts that HD content will run smoothly.. if it even runs at all!

Just tested Plex 0.9 with some 720p mkvs.... total RAM footprint for the front-end + server was under 200MB.
