The awesomest just got a little awesomer. Plex now has a plugin for Netflix streaming!

My recent Mini purchase for Plex gets better by the day.

That kicks it for me. I've been vacillating between a Blu-Ray player with Netflix streaming and a mac-mini.

Plex is terrific and easy to use. If it has NetFlix too, I'mm all over it.

Yes! Thanks for the heads-up, I've been waiting for this.

Edit: Only 25 movies showing up on my Watch Instantly queue. Anyone else having this problem?

i can't get anything to show up

i installed the plugin, launched it, and it had a preferences section, so i put in my login email addy, and my password, and......nothing

all i get is the preferences selection, and i know i have things in my instant queue

what am i doing wrong?

i have always disliked plex. but i'm going to give it one more go before i declare Boxee superior (even in it's alpha stage)

This is really cool. It actually got me to give Plex a try. Plus the fact that it will play the .m2ts bluray files ripped from my ps3 that was shown how to do in the other thread. Awesome. I can actually see myself getting a mac mini to take advantage of these new abilities.

this is amazing. I cant wait home to try this out. what skin does everyone on here use?

I can't get netflix to work on the mini, but works fine on the pro

I need some help.

I can get the netflix app working on the mac book pro, but I have a brand new mini 2009, and it never shows up under the videos section. I have silverlight installed already. I have removed all of plex and re-installed it, but it still doesn't show up in the videos section - but this problem is only for the mac mini, not for my mac book pro? Why is that? What can I do to get it to work on the mac mini?

scratch that, had to exit and reboot plex, works fine now

I'm thinking the same thing... although i need to get my storage situation figured out first.

For me MacMini biggest selling point is the storage expandability. Just hook up an external drive and you are set.
I really do not understand AppleTV not being able to do the same with the USB port. Right there is a deal breaker for somebody with a large library.

AppleTV 2,0 hardware needs this functionality alongside ability to play 1080p. But I am not holding my breath. MacMini seems more suitable for that, but is a bit overkill and more expensive for someone who just want to use it as HTPC.

The greatest thing about this to me and no one is talking about it, is external monitor full screen support for Netflix. When using Netflix's player if you put it on an external display you can watch in full screen. But as soon as you click on anything on your main display the Netflix player drops back to windowed mode. Basically it means you can't watch a movie full screen on your external display while you do anything on your main display. Plex totally solves this, it stays full screen on the external display while allowing you to work on your main display. Plex has a few issues of its own with Netflix integration that I would love to solve, it would make it absolutely perfect. I posted another thread in this forum detailing these issues and hoping for responses and solutions.

I tried 2 HD titles and neither appeared HD. I couldn't find any confirmation of whether it was streaming an HD movie or not, but my impressions were that they were not HD.

Thanks. Looks like my account is staying on hold for a while.

please help i downloaded the plugin put in my email and password. then i go to watch a movie and it get suck on the opening the streampage and never plays the movie. Am i missing something? do i have to put a code in the netflix web site or something? Please help

Netflix and Hulu seem to require Silverlight plugin as well.

Was looking this over to confirm my experience that Plex isn't supporting HD in Netflix. I have the Blu-Ray and HD option enabled, getting HD content in my Roku Player, but not in Plex :(

Is this plugin something different you have to download? I cant figure out how to get the Netflix portion to work

Yes... you have to go to the App Store and install the Netflix plugin. You'll also have to go to Microsoft (in a web browser) and download and install Silverlight. Then you can set up your account in the Netflix plugin (IIRC, it prompts you the first time you run it) so you can access Netflix.
