Just received my new Air. Is it bad for the battery or machine to keep it plugged in all the time? I was searching, and got different advice, but the new AIr battery may be different?

Thanks
Jim

I mean if you check Apple's website and their recommendations on battery care I believe they say to run their laptops on battery every so often. I believe it's two-three times a week. Or maybe it's a month, again I don't quite remember off the top of my head I'm sure if you google it you'll be able to find it. So in short keeping it plugged in all the time is bad, you have to use it on battery for at least a few hours every so often.

Plug it as much as possible. This way you will do as little wear on the battery as possible, and help it to keep the best performance when not plugged.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions: Apple Notebook Battery FAQ

Plug it as much as possible. This way you will do as little wear on the battery as possible, and help it to keep the best performance when not plugged.

AppleCare support recommends that if you leave your Mac plugged in most of the time, unplug it every 2 or 3 days and run on battery down to somewhere around 50%, then plug it back in. That keeps the electrons moving.
