Hi, I tried a search and found some adaptors but gotten a little confused with what I actually need to get.

I've just bought a Core i5 27" iMac (which I love so far!), my 2007 White MacBook is now with my wife and I wanted to check how you connected it up to use the iMac as a second display.

My understanding is iMac = Mini Display, MacBook = Mini DVI.

Yes, the Macbook outputs Mini DVI and the iMac need Mini-Displayport input. You need a couple of converters:
1) Mini DVI to DVI (available from Apple)
2) DVI to Mini-Displayport (note that this is NOT the same as the Mini-Displayport to DVI adaptor that Apple sells)

For #2, you need something like this: link

cheers for the info, really good - I now know what to buy :)
