I've searched the forums and can't get a straight answer (maybe there is no straight answer...).

What is the difference (practically speaking) between the PowerMacs performance - dual G5 - 2.0 vs 2.3 vs 2.7? Can anyone point me to some benchmarks or something that will help me decide what to buy? I don't have a bottomless wallet but I'd spend the cash if I felt like I was truly getting bang for my buck...

I'll probably wait until the end of the month or so, but help!

Thanx

I realize that, but let's say, all else being equal - same RAM, same video card, etc... - how much of a difference will there be among the three?

I'll be doing mostly video editing as well as the usual internet/word processing/iTunes listening/garageband monkeying around...

Thanks!

PS Thanks for the links - y'all are a huge help!

Go to www.xbench.com and compare different setups.

It's not a scientific benchmark by any means, but give it a shot.

Are you thinking of buying one? What will you use it for?

Going to purchase after the rumored updates on Oct. 12. I will wait and see what shakes out then, and then I'll decide what to get.

I've had my eye on these for a while, as I need a desktop relpacement for this crappy Dell and finally convinced my wife to come back to Apple (I was an old Mac user - I remember using 'Jazz' do do spreadsheet stuff on an old 512 I think). I was in school and her family bought us the Dell 5 years ago - but it's time to go... Last summer I went out and got an iBook G4 - 768 of RAM - she fell in love, and now we're looking at PowerMacs.

I wanted to get a sick machine - I guess the most labor-intensive stuff we'll do is video editing though. Honestly, anything would be an upgrade from the Dell....

Thanks so much for the help -
