Podcast App - AirPlay not working

I am using the new Catalina Podcast app and can successfully select an AirPlay compatible receiver used to power home audio speakers but it just continues to play the podcast their the MacBook Pro speakers.

The Music app works correctly when selecting the AirPlay compatible receiver and the audio plays throughout the house.

Does anyone else have this issue or have any tips?

I have exactly the same issue. But no solution sadly.

Yup. Same for me. Had to use the audio menu bar, and then it's just one speaker at a time.

It looks like you can only select one speaker at a time in Podcasts too. I hope they fix that as well.

Going to keep all my Podcasts in iTunes for now, so I can listen to them and control them with the remote app.

Also, the playback controls have gone from the dock icon menu. And it still doesn't work with the iOS remote app.

Show in Finder has gone and I can no longer classify a podcast as music so it becomes part of my music library.

I would have liked syncing with iOS to start working again but Apple are certainly making Catalyst apps like this easy to hate.

I am completely at a loss why Apple will happily sort compatibility issues with external supplies displays and other equipment but will not sort out this issue with their own programs - podcast and airplay is pretty central to connection and distribution of music content yet it has never worked in Catalina and probably will now not get sorted till a major update - its just Apple Laziness -
