So I kinda like the podcast app refresh. Things layout nicely. However new episode discovery is way, way slow. For example using Overcast pretty much as soon as new episodes are available they download and notify. Not so with the apple podcast app. One episode posted at 9:48 pm but never showed until 8:23 am next day.

Overcast had it within 15 minutes. And yes I keep the Apple podcast running in the background. There is no more download new episode option in settings.

Have other experienced similar issues with the latest app?

I only have one or two shows that update almost right away (one is a paid one, don't know if that makes a difference), and others take a ridiculous amount of time to update (on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV) regardless of how many times I refresh, despite being updated in iTunes already. (I dislike syncing podcasts from iTunes because the episodes don't like deleting from the app, regardless if it's the iPhone or iPad.)

Interesting. I would not think a paid podcast would update any quicker than others. In previous versions there was a setting to check hourly and even that didn’t poll for new episodes. Not sure how Apple even checks…. Is it done on their servers or via the app.

Well look at this…… maybe this is why episodes are not updating?
