Hello All,

I am trying to confirm whether or not Apple TV Take 2
will support Podcast subscriptions with auto-update of content.

Does anybody have knowledge of this?

Thanks.

Steve's demo at the Keynote showed direct access to
podcasts on ATV2 without syncing but ability to subscribe
has not been discussed.

No subscriptions directly on ATV for the 2.0 release. Just download or stream (and of course the usual syncing ability of subscribed podcasts from iTunes).

Kevin

I would think this is only a minor issue. You will be able to "search" and try out video podcasts from the ATV directly. Exploring and previewing as it were from your tv. If you find a podcast you want to subscribe to, do it on your computer in Itunes and have it sync.

Isn't there a favorites section, so you could save a list of the ones you want to check regularly? I thought I saw a feature like this in the keynote. This will be nice; I won't have to keep both an AppleTV-compatible and iPhone-compatible resolution feed in my iTunes library.

^ Yes, there is.

:apple:TV Take2 changes things up a bit. Select your favorite podcasts and once you're on your couch ready to watch podcasts, go to your Favorites at which point you'll be able to watch all new and back episodes of a podcast without downloading.

This is great because it'll save space back on my MacBook Pro. For visitors who expect 'regular tv' this will satisfy them because they can go through back episodes of a podcast. There will be tons of programming available, all without downloading.

:apple:TV Take 2 is already a hit in my books!

The only problem I see with a non-download approach is if you don't watch the whole thing from start to finish, there is no way for it to remember where you were when you restart. Still, it will be nice to have a bunch of directly accessible content available.

In that case, you can download the podcast right from your couch. The option is there. It will download and then also sync back to your iTunes.

The implementation of podcasts on Take 2 is my favorite so far from any device that I've seen out there.

Do you know this for sure? I haven't seen confirmation since Take 2 is not yet out.

Podcast subscriptions on the ATV are not a feature of this release, just downloads and direct streaming.

Kevin

I thought this might be the case, but ipedro says he's seen it at Macworld:confused:

Well, I'll still get one tomorrow. At least streaming is better than watching hunched over the computer desk.

I didn't say that you can subscribe. Read above.

You can view it by streaming it from the server or you can save it. If you save it, it will sync back to your iTunes.
