Hey all,

So I've got an XP machine with iTunes 8.0.1 (haven't updated to 8.0.2 yet due to a lot of complains on the launch thread) and I have 1G iTouch, that I just put 2.2 on. I like 2.2, except I'm a little curious about a feature that I might be missing.

I downloaded a few podcasts for test on my iTouch, and then sync'd with my computer, expecting them to, like songs, appear and be available on my computer (I want to use this a lot because the internet is so patchy in some places in Jordan; it would be great to download anywhere, sync at home).

However - although I had 2 new audiocasts and one vodcast stored on the ipod, none of them showed up in the podcasts directory. the audiocasts were from casts that i was a subscriber to, and the vodcast was just from a random once-download. Neither type appeared.

Can anyone verify if you need to have 8.0.2 in order for this to work? Or is anyone using 8.0.1 (or earlier!) having this trouble too?

EDIT: iLounge specifically mentions here that I'm supposed to be able to do this

I can't speak directly to your problem, but I would suggest going ahead and upgrading iTunes to the newest version. We upgraded both our macs, and I have iTunes on my vista partition and have had no issues. I would also take a gander that this will solve your issue.

and this couldn't have anything to do with not upgrading to the newest iTunes?

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but part of the reason I was asking BEFORE simply downloading away was because I don't like updating iTunes unless I have to. I read through the list of "updates" and since I don't encode MP3s anyway on this thing, I figured there was little point to updating.

Also, because of Apple's stupid decision to make me download another 70MB each time I need to download a point update, it will take me about an hour to do. When I said that they internet sucked here in Jordan, I meant it!

Fixed

Well, I just downloaded and installed 8.0.2 and it appears to have fixed the problem. If I had known that 8.0.2 was required to unlock the full features of the 2.2 update, I wouldn't have made the post.

AbiYng, perhaps you can edit the front page story on 8.0.2 to mention that besides the minor issues with mp3 creation, etc, that 8.0.2 is needed for iphone-to-computer podcast transfers?

three cheers for dialup!
